We stopped at Parthenon 2nd time after 5 years. I read information since the first visit because I was curious about it. It was a fair in this park and the model Parthenon built but after fair done the city decided to keep it.
It was a good place for swimming with no crowded. The ferry cost $30 each round trip. There were chairs and umbrellas rental provided. There was a small shop on the island.
Ferry twice a day leave from Gulfport at 9am and noon, and leave from the island at 2.30pm and 5pm
I planned to not get in the water but when we got there, it was too hot then I changed my mind. The water was refreshing me. However, we did not prepare sunscreen lotion, so our skin burnt back home.
It was our first cruise trip which we had a good experience. To foreigner friends who come across my blog, I spoke Thai on my videos but you can see what we did and enjoy the moment with us.
We were lucky as no rain which a good for us as we went on canoes headed to the Iceberg. The guide said that we could not go very close because it might danger as the ice would collapse anytime.
After we picked up my brother and his girlfriend, we headed to Sukhothai. However, we would like to have noodles curry " Khoa Soy" for lunch. My brother recommended two popular restaurants in the area but all full then we decided to go further and looked for the restaurant on our way.
It was funny for us when I asked mister who was sitting next to the driver (My dad) to look for the restaurant. He asked me, " How does it look?". I could not tell him because restaurants on the road most similar. We must read the sign what they were selling. I wrote Thai word as what we were looking for on a paper for him. He compared the alphabet and told us twice when we passed by. It looked similar but not what we were looking for.
Eventually, we found the rest area where selling many kinds of food. Yes, Khoa soy was available too.
Consequently, we headed to Sukhothai where our destination was Sukhothai Historic Park. We got there late afternoon, then my dad took us to Srisatchanalai for a short while. We were bicycling here until dark and moved to the resort for resting and get ready for the next day. click to see album
After dinner, we walked at J Park before separated from my sister and brother-in-law back to Bangkok.
I saw my dad and sisters pictures at J Park before I went to Thailand. This place is a brand new where opens not long ago. Its designed as Japanese style. I do not know their business schedule but I guess they open every day. For me, this is a small plaza where provided restaurants and stores which is good for family, couple and everyone.
We stopped at Mangrove Plant the last place before headed to Bangkok. We had morning coffee at Na Cafe and had lunch at Suankwan restaurant and here. I learned a new vocabulary " Mangrove Plant". It was funny because I did not see the sign in English when we walked through which I asked Mister what to call the place like this. By the time I asked him, I walked by the sign and my eyes stopped at it.
There were not many people at the time we were there. I would like to hire the boat to go out and look around but it was very low tide as we could see the mud. I think a good time was in the morning and afternoon when high tide will be fun to sit on the boat and enjoy the environment.
While I was walking on the bridge to the tower at the end path, I noticed along the way, there were crab condos. Yes, it was condos as I see the sign next to them. I had imagination and see the pictures of crabs stack up on the wooden crib in the water. We walked up to the tower, looked at the view and walked back to the car. click to see album
This was the first place I wanted to visit on this trip to Thailand. I lived in Sukhothai for a couple years and went there once since my grandparents still alive. We did not stay long on that day because my grandfather had diarrhea.
I found that there were bicycling in Sukhothai Historic Park in the present day so this was must do. I let my dad knew all my planned and places I wanted to go then he could plan the trip. My dad was our guide and driver every time we visited Thailand.
We got there in the morning which did not have many tourists yet. We rented bicycles for each and started our tour. A few hours later, we decided to finish our tour as everyone got hungry. There was a local restaurant by the parking area where we wanted to eat but too many people at that time. Of course, it was noon and there were many tourists all over the place. Well, we agreed to move from there and looked for the place to eat on our way. Finally, we stopped at a hut by the road. An old couple who selling food told us that not many ingredients left but I replied to them, anything they could cook enough for us was fine. Eventually, we were full and ready to be on the road again.
We stopped at Pisanulok bus station to get tickets for my brother and his girlfriend. They were back to Bangkok. After that, we headed to the place where my dad wanted to take us stay overnight. Unfortunately, it was dark and my dad did not remember the turn well so we agreed to stay at the first place we passed. I will write about where we stayed separate.
I recommend this place and go in the morning because it is very hot in the afternoon especially if you go in Summer.
